On 20 August, members of the group “Partnership for Energy Reform” began a march from Songkhla Province to Bangkok with the objective of submitting their five-point demands to the National Council for Peace and Order. The demands include removal of coal from the country’s energy strategy and accelerated efforts towards renewable energy.

Leaders of the march were arrested and detained for alleged violation of martial law rules, then released after theree days. On 24 August, leaders of related actions in Bangkok were likewise arrested and detained. Related articles below.
