Debenhams seeks more child labour vigilence

Clothing retailers needed to monitor carefully their suppliers to ensure that they had not outsourced work to middlemen who employed children, Debenhams said yesterday, after reports that after reports that children had been found working for Primark [part of Associated British Foods] suppliers… Rob Templeman, Debenhams chief executive, said…“What’s happened with Primark is a lesson for everybody. You have to make sure if you have sequin or embroidery work carried out that it’s being done in the factory and not outsourced.
