We identify the circumstances that need to be taken into account by UK-based companies that operate in conflict or high risk areas where there is an abundance of natural resources. The UK Government has failed to take action to prevent or deter abuses by UK companies operating in these areas, in particular in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
