Peru: London Stock Exchange asked to investigate United Cacao over deforestation & abuses allegations

모든 태그 보기

Peruvian indigenous peoples submitted a letter and a report by Environmental Investigation Agency on alleged negative impacts by United Cacao’s subsidiary in Peru on human rights and the environment. The national forestry authority in Peru (SERFOR) issued a public statement confirming the illegal operations of United Cacao’s subsidiary in the country, clarifying that the company does not have the required environmental approval. SERFOR further called upon the London Stock Exchange to support the Peruvian government’s enforcement actions by requiring listed companies to fully comply with the laws and policies of countries of operation. United Cacao has denied it operates illegally in Peru.
