The Ontario Labour Relations Board says nine workers fired during a bitter strike at a Vale mine in Sudbury two years ago are entitled to arbitration. The board has ruled that the Brazilian mining giant was "patently unreasonable" and broke provincial labour law in denying the workers that recourse. United Steelworkers Local 6500 president Rick Bertrand says the ruling is a major victory for the union. He says he's confident the decision will help get the workers back their jobs through arbitration, but he urged Vale to reinstate them while the process is ongoing.
