Impact assessments

[F]rameworks that help businesses to understand their poverty footprint..[such as] Oxfam Poverty footprint and the WBCSD’s (World Business Council on Sustainable Development) Measuring Impact Framework….were able to…increase awareness of the…role that companies play in the development context…It is still unclear to me how many companies work with WBCSD’s Measuring Impact Framework, but…I came to the conclusion that companies are not interested or at least not yet ready for such initiatives. But recent developments have made me rethink this view…Standard Chartered has been engaged in …studies of its socio-economic impact in Ghana and…in Indonesia. Oxfam…published a…poverty footprint report, involving SAB Miller and Coca Cola. SAB Miller…did a socio-economic impact study involving its Nile Breweries in Uganda and Cervecería Hondureña in Honduras.
