NGOs call for greater representation of developing countries in global tax talks & emphasise need for UN Global Tax Body

On 18 April 2016, in response to the Panama Papers, the Global Alliance for Tax Justice issued a statement that urges the international community to establish an intergovernmental tax body.  The statement also highlights the urgent need for developing countries to participate in global tax decision making processes.  In another statement, a tax justice representative of the Financing for Development Group and the European Network on Debt and Development discusses barriers that currently prevent adequate representation of developing countries in these processes.
