GoFundMe's response to allegations of mishandling and delaying emergency funds for Gaza

GoFundMe's statement:

Our approach to Gaza is the same as all global crises where there are sanctions and limitations on the flow of money involved, such as the conflict in Ukraine and the recent earthquake in Lebanon.

In order for us to be allowed to support fundraising including evacuations for those on the ground in Gaza, our banks and payment partners require us to apply additional due diligence, which may result in longer wait times.

Please know our global Trust & Safety team is working 24/7 to review each fundraiser related to this crisis, to protect generosity, and provide support as quickly and safely as possible. We are committed to empowering people to help each other wherever we can.

When any GoFundMe fundraiser is created, we distribute funds as quickly as possible, balancing speed with safety to ensure fundraisers are in compliance with relevant international laws, global regulations, and requirements dictated by our payment processors. We have a team of experts focused on reviewing and vetting every single fundraiser on GoFundMe, and implementing our terms of service. You can see our FAQ on fundraising for Gaza specifically in this blog.
