Save the Children [child labour in Egypt]

Child rights’ activists have achieved milestones which they fear might not be safeguarded by the Islamist majority in Egypt’s new Parliament...Itani [who completed a master’s thesis on child labour at the University of Southern Denmark] says that working children often...hard and inhumane working conditions. According to her research, the agricultural sector employs the highest percentage of child labor (77.7%) in Egypt. The rest work in the industrial sector (14.9%), the commercial sector (6%) and the service sector (1.14%)...Agricultural child laborers are exposed to rather dangerous conditions from unsafe transportation to exposure to pests, pesticides and bad weather conditions.
