South Korea: Migrant fishermen subject to human rights violations, say NGO and IOM
Migrant fishermen in South Korean fishing vessels are often subject to human rights violations, including human trafficking and forced labour, according to a report by Advocates for Public Interest Law and the International Organisation for Migration. The organisations identify weaknesses in the prevention of abuses during recruitment; the protection of migrant fishermen during employment; the prosecution of offenders: and international co-operation to tackle the problem.
