ExxonMobil's response to ERI briefing about SLAPPs & judicial harassment

... ExxonMobil supports freedom of expression, the right to free speech and the right to freely associate, but these reports continue to confound us.

Groups who oppose the energy industry can’t have it both ways - to avail themselves of all legal maneuverings in pursuit of a biased agenda – then condemn others in an effort to silence public discourse and diverse viewpoints, when they try to do the same. This is what an appeals court has referred to as “lawfare.”

ExxonMobil will continue to invoke all legal protections against abusive lawsuits designed to suppress debate about public policy matters such as climate change.

Information regarding ExxonMobil’s policies and activities can be found on our website www.exxonmobil.com...
