Company Response

Havenbedrijf Amsterdam's response

Port of Amsterdam is the port authority responsible for the overall management and development of the Amsterdam port area. Terminal operations are executed by private companies, meaning that Port of Amsterdam does not handle any cargo itself. Therefore, the influence of Port of Amsterdam on the international coal supply chain is circumscribed. Within this delineated sphere of influence, we strive to make a positive and significant contribution to sustainable development, as evidenced by our continued commitment to realise a coal-free port by 2030. Additionally, we hold a firm belief in multistakeholder engagement. We have been a member of Bettercoal since 2014 and subscribe to its stated goals. We are also engaged in dialogue with PAX and SOMO with regards to the ‘just transition’ principle. We are conscious of the OECD processes in relation to the complaint filed and will focus on responding in the appropriate manner.
