JBS response on attack against union leader in 2020 HRDs report

JBS strongly condemns any type of violence and therefore considers utterly absurd the allegation that it could have stimulated an attack against its own workers. In the episode that is reported, the company took action to do precisely the opposite, to protect its team members, who who were being unduly prevented from entering their workplace.

This is our main priority globally. In the face of the coronavirus, our immediate topmost priority was to assure our employees safety and health, since food production can never be interrupted, specially during a pandemic. Thus, to ensure maximum prevention against Covid-19, JBS has adopted strict protocols and control measures on its plants, distribution centers, stores and offices, following all recommendations from healthcare organizations. These initiatives have become part of the company’s routine, including Forquilhinha and Nova Veneza plants. During this whole time, JBS has always been dialoguing with its team precisely to jointly define the best protection strategy.

In total JBS has globally invested in 2020 R$ 2.8 billion (over US$ 500 million) both to protect our workforce and to assist the local communities in which we are present.
