Philippines: Police rescues 2,700 Filipino & foreign workers from seven offshore gaming operator establishments

Four of the foreigners who were rescued by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the raids on a suspected Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Las Piñas City turned out to be fugitives from China.

More than 2,700 Filipino and foreign workers were rescued when policemen raided seven establishments in Las Piñas City on June 27.

All the rescued Filipinos, numbering to around 1,500, were already released while the rescued foreigners remain in the area for processing.

The raids were in connection with the implementation of search warrants for possible violations of anti-human trafficking and anti-cybercrime laws.
