Ghana: 4 small-scale miners killed and more than 14 others reportedly trapped in a collapsed mining pit

"4 killed in galamsey pit collapse", 24 July 2017

About 15 illegal miners are reportedly trapped in a mining pit at Petriensa in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality in the Ashanti Region. The galamsey pit collapsed on Sunday evening killing some of the miners who were trapped in it. Four bodies have so far been retrieved from the pit, with fears that over 14 more are still in the pit...The unfortunate incident comes just a few weeks after some 22 miners were declared dead in a collapsed pit at Prestea-Nsuta in the Western Region.
