The Philippine Statistics Authority estimates that there are around 2.1 million Filipino children exposed to hazardous labor, which includes mining.

Among the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations is to eliminate child labor by 2025. To help achieve this objective in the Philippines, national agencies have teamed up with the International Labour Organization.
