Coca-Cola, Pepsi Ban Soda in Schools in Clinton Deal [USA]
The nation's largest soda companies agreed to halt almost all soft drink sales in elementary and middle schools under pressure from parents and health advocates. Coca-Cola Co., PepsiCo Inc. and Cadbury Schweppes Plc will only sell water, juice, tea and low-calorie drinks in schools under a deal brokered by former President Bill Clinton and the American Heart Association...Richard Daynard, president of the Public Health Advocacy Institute...said the new policy ``doesn't go far enough'' in removing sports drinks and diet sodas, which he says provide no nutritional value for students.
