Fiat loses union case in long-running labour row [Italy]
The Fiom-CGIL union [Federazione Italiana Opeari Metallurgici-Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro] had said Fiat had excluded its members from recent hirings at the company's factory in Pomigliano...Italian law bans discrimination against unionised workers. Fiat was not available for comment...[L]ast year [Fiat]...ask[ed] workers for more flexible conditions...Fiom-CGIL opposed the plan...The union insists that its members still have the right to representation at Fiat's factories and, to obtain it, it has filed 61 lawsuits in 20 courts across Italy.
