Laos: New coal-fired power plant in Sekong province feared to cause damage to farmlands & health risks; Epic did not respond

A new coal-fired power plant in Sekong province in Laos is underway as the Government grants concession to Evolution Power Investment Corporation (EPIC) to extract coal in Sekong province. Groups fear that the plant will damage nearby farmlands and subject locals to risks of cancers, respiratory problems, and birth defects from pollution.

Business and Human Rights Resource Centre invited EPIC to respond to the concerns raised in the report. EPIC did not respond.
