National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) statement regarding the report “Our Mining Children” (India)

NMDC is a public sector company operating a fully mechanised mine on iron ore at Donimalai. It employs no child labour. It is sensitive to and fully conforming to the norms of corporate social responsibility. The report has correctly noted that NMDC has the largest iron ore mine in Bellary-Hospet sector conforming to all legal requirements in employment and labour welfare. None of the issues raised in the reports on child labour, exploitation of women and environmental impact have any bearing with NMDC.
