The Cambodian Embassy in Egypt helped 27 Cambodian migrant workers be repatriated from Jordan ..., amid the pandemic.

“The Cambodian Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt facilitated the return of 27 Cambodian migrant workers whose employment had expired in two textile factories,” Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Koy Kuong said in a statement...

He said the embassy has helped 84 Cambodian migrant workers who worked in Jordan to safely return to the Kingdom on three separate occasions so far...

Collective Union of Movement of Workers president Pav Sina told ... that factories in countries that receive migrant workers have an obligation to send back said migrant workers when their employment contract has expired.

“It is normal for workers to have to return to their country when their job contracts have expired,” he said.

Sina said if a migrant worker’s job contract has expired and they continue to work they will become an illegal migrant worker and they will subsequently be deported back to their home country.

The Centre for Alliance of Labour and Human Rights ... called for the government’s assistance in the repatriation of 21 Cambodian workers stranded in Jordan.

It said the workers from Vega Textile Co Ltd and Camel Textile International Corporation pleaded for help after their respective companies ended their employment...
