Cambodia: Indian govt. work with Cambodian authorities to rescue over 360 Indian nationals who tricked to work in scam compounds in Cambodia

"360 Indians Rescued From Cambodian Traffickers", 23 May 2024

Approximately 360 Indian nationals have been rescued from human trafficking networks in Cambodia, with the most recent group of 60 individuals freed from a location known as Jinbei-4 in Sihanoukville. The Embassy of India in Phnom Penh announced on Wednesday that these individuals were being repatriated to India. The rescue came in the wake of an uprising by more than 300 Indian nationals against their handlers in the Jinbei & Compound area of Sihanoukville. This resulted in swift action from both the Indian and Cambodian authorities.

…, Ravi Shanakar Ayyanar, Visakhapatnam police official, disclosed that they had deployed seven teams and set up a control room to aid victims of human trafficking... He emphasised the importance for victims and their families to connect with police officials to break free from traffickers.

Additionally, a temporary control room has been set up by the embassy in Sihanoukville to assist any other Indian nationals facing difficulties and wishing to return to India… The Indian Embassy, through a press release, has issued advisories cautioning Indian nationals seeking jobs in Cambodia about fraudulent practices. They have warned against falling prey to unauthorised agents and emphasised the importance of understanding the purpose for which visas are granted. The embassy has also advised against engaging in illegal cyber activities.

Total count: Approximately 5000 Indian Nationals from Andhra Pradesh are stuck at Cambodia From Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, and Vizianagaram: Approximately 150-200 Rescued: Approximately 400
