CSOs call on Dutch development bank to adopt measures to prevent and address reprisals against human rights defenders, includes bank's response
Civil society organizations (CSOs) are calling on FMO, a Dutch development bank, to adopt measures in its Sustainability Policy to prevent and address reprisals against human rights defenders related to the activities it finances. CSOs are emphasising that the need for FMO to strengthen protection for HRDs was made clear by the murder of Berta Cáceres in March 2016, who for years protested the Agua Zarca hydroelectric project in Honduras, financed by FMO.
