On 20 February 2024, police arrested dozens of climate activists protesting against Woodside Energy’s Browse gas project outside the company’s Perth headquarters, Australia. They said that the project in the offshore Browse Basin could endanger marine life and contribute to the release of billions of tonnes of greenhouse gases.
