Indigenous rights organizations denounce critically weak ICMM Indigenous Peoples statement

On 8 August 2024, the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) released its new Indigenous Peoples and Mining Position statement. In response, several Indigenous Peoples' rights organizations and others from civil society have founded the new Position Statement, stating that it fails to align with internationally recognized rights of Indigenous Peoples, and particularly free, prior and informed consent (FPIC).
