[Summary translation prepared by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre]

People's inspectors help factory workers identify violations, 31 August 2021

Almost 2 thousand safety violations have been identified at Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant by people's controllers since the beginning of the year. Since 2019, the enterprise has been implementing the social project "People's Control", where people with disabilities monitor safety violations. They prevent injuries by identifying minor violations at the enterprise while having a stable job.
The People's Control project has been successfully operating since 2019. 15 former employees of the enterprise, who received disability as a result of occupational disease or for general medical reasons, became video surveillance operators. They were recruited to the staff of the labour protection and industrial safety department of Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant.
