Workers went on strike at a NutriAsia factory in the Philippines because of low wages and unhealthy working conditions. The workers also alleged that NutriAsia practiced contractualisation -- extending regular employment agreements to less than 10 percent of its 1,400-person workforce. 

NutriAsia issued a statement denying that it is engaged in prohibited forms of contractualisation. Its statement is linked below.

The Department of Labor and Employment has ordered NutriAsia to regularise its workers and the Commission on Human Rights has called on security forces to observe maximum tolerance to ensure that the rights of protesting workers are protected.
