Russia: 1 worker killed, 1 more injured in accident at Kalyinskaya mine operated by Sevuralboksitruda

Worker killed in Kalyinskaya mine in the Urals due to rock collapse, 25 March 2024

The incident occurred at the Kalyinskaya mine of JSC Sevuralboksitruda, owned by company Rusal, in the town of Severouralsk, Sverdlovsk region.

According to the company’s statement, a specialized rescue team managed to save a miner, Alexey Amozov, from the rubble. He was sent to the hospital for examination and treatment. Another miner, Kirill Loskutov, tragically died as a result of the collapse.

As reported by Alexander Shulga, senior assistant to the head of the regional Investigative Committee of Russia (SKR), an investigation has been initiated under Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of industrial safety requirements at hazardous production facilities"). The worker's death will be legally assessed within the context of the investigation.
