Vysokogorsky Mining and Processing Plant (VGOCP) fined 410,000 rubles, 10 January 2024
The fine was imposed by the local office of Rosprirodnadzor, the Russian environmental watchdog. During an inspection, the agency discovered several violations, which led to the administrative liability of both the legal entity and officials of OJSC VGOCP.
Rosprirodnadzor inspectors visited the plant's industrial site and measured emissions levels during their inspection. It was found that the company was polluting the Tagil River by discharging pollutants into the water body in excess of the permissible limit.
Additionally, the plant failed to update the inventory of emission sources, stored production waste in unauthorized areas, and released unregulated pollutants into the atmosphere.
Due to violations of environmental protection laws, the Ural-based enterprise was fined 410,000 rubles.
