Sony response to allegations of labour rights abuse of Bangladeshi workers at Malaysian supplier

….Sony is committed to uphold internationally recognized human rights of all people.

With regards to our supply chain, as a member of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), we work collaboratively with governments, industries and other stakeholders to thoroughly review the situation and find appropriate solutions.

Also, we have set forth the “Sont Supply Chain Code of Conduct” (the Code) and we conduct regular assessments and work with the suppliers to ensure compliance with the Code including human rights at the production sites. The Code explicitly prohibits the use of trafficked or forced labor, including exploitative labor, confiscation of passports/identification, or collection of recruitment fees, in our facilities and supply chain. In the event that a supplier is confirmed to have committed a major violation of the code such as of forced labor, Sony will take appropriate countermeasures including request for implementing corrective actions and termination of business with such supplier.

As regarding the questioned supplier, we will work with the relevant government authorities and organizations to conduct a thorough fact-checking investigation. Based on the findings, we will take appropriate measures in accordance with the above policy…
