S. Korea: Samsung Electronics workers stage first ever strike in company history over wages

On 7 June 2024, Samsung Electronic workers, as part of the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), staged the first ever strike in the company's history, after failed wage talks with the management. The union has roughly 28,000 members, and accounts for nearly 22 percent of the company's total workforce.

Samsung Electronics decided to increase wages by 5.1%, however the union demands further commitments, including improvements to performance-based bonus system and an extra day of annual leave.
