Thunder after new Qatar report before the World Cup: There are simply no excuses

[Unofficial translation by the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre via Google]

.... Luxury hotels in Qatar are largely unable to safeguard the rights of the guest workers they use in the run-up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

It appears in a recent report from the renowned human rights organization Business & Human Rights Resource Center.

...... Much of what Equidem has documented in collaboration with the Business & Human Rights Resource Center, indicates forced labor and modern slavery. International hotel chains, Fifa and Qatari authorities must take swift action to prevent such exploitation of guest workers, he said.

"There are simply no excuses for luxury hotels failing to protect their workers from exploitation in one of the richest countries in the world, a country that is preparing to host the most lucrative sports tournament on the planet."
Mustafa Qadri, Equidem
