Tourism in Sri Lanka: Human Rights Due Diligence of Tour Operators in Post-Conflict Areas

...In 2013 more than 85,000 German and around 20,000 Swiss travellers visited Sri Lanka. Thus Germany and Switzerland contribute considerably to the Sri Lankan tourism sector. On the German travel market around 50 tour operators and on the Swiss market around 20 tour operators offer vacations in Sri Lanka. In view of the human rights violations documented in the study "Dark Clouds over the Sunshine Paradise. Tourism and Human Rights in Sri Lanka", it is crucial that the tourism industry in today’s post-conflict Sri Lanka observes its human rights due diligence.
