UK: Tajik migrants charged over 1500 USD each for non-existent seasonal farm jobs by recruitment co. Davri Istiqlol; incl. co. non-response

The victims [...] paid 18,000 somonis each to the Davri Istiqlol Company for sending for seasonal work to the United Kingdom, but they were never sent there.
Asia-Plus

In May 2024, Asia-Plus reported that the Migration Service of the Tajikistani Government had urged prospective migrants to the UK to apply for jobs only through the state-run authorised body.

The call follows the arrest of the head of the recruitment agency Davri Istiqlol Company for charging 150 workers recruitment fees for seasonal jobs in the UK that did not materialise. The victims paid 18,0000 somonis each to the agency.

In May, the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Davri Istiqlol Company to respond to the article. It did not.
