Ukraine: Govt. excludes Peninsula Petroleum from intl. war sponsors list due to termination of business with Russia

NAPC for the first time excluded the company from the list of international sponsors of the war, 16 June 2023

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption removed from the list of international sponsors of the war the first company – the Irish Peninsula Petroleum Limited, which is the world’s supplier of marine fuel. This was reported by the press service of the NAPC...

“For the first time since the beginning of the creation of the list of international sponsors of the war – a powerful reputational tool of pressure on companies that continue to work with the Russian Federation after a large-scale invasion, the first company was excluded from it,” the report says.

It is noted that Peninsula Petroleum Limited sent a letter to the NAPC indicating the fulfilled conditions that allow it to be excluded from the mentioned list. The company stopped supplying bunker fuel not only to ships owned by Russians or sailing under the Russian flag, but also to those carrying Russian oil. These steps were taken as a sign of condemnation of Russian aggression.

Thus, Peninsula Petroleum Limited has met all the necessary conditions, choosing the path of a socially responsible business.

“The first exclusion from the list of international sponsors of the war is the best proof that this tool really works. We want this list to decrease, and not vice versa,” said Alexander Novikov, head of the NAPC.

He expressed hope that the decision of Peninsula Petroleum Limited will become an example for other companies that value their reputation and do not want to be associated with the Russian regime. The Agency is open to cooperation with international business and is ready to consult on the steps required for de-listing.
