Viterra responded

10 December 2021

[...] We are not aware of any human rights or environmental violations on our landholdings, or any outstanding grievances.

Viterra is an independently managed and operated company, is privately held (Glencore plc is 1 of 4 shareholders), and its headquarters are located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Viterra plays an important role in the global agriculture supply chain and maintains strong relationships with all stakeholders across our agricultural asset network.

As part of our global network of agricultural assets, we have farming operations in Argentina and Brazil, which consists of owned and leased land, and produces various coarse grains, oilseeds and sugar. Viterra’s farming operations do not produce palm oil, coffee, bananas, or oranges.

Viterra has a zero tolerance approach towards any form of workplace discrimination, forced labour, child labour, physical assault or harassment within our workplace or along our supply chains. Our Human Rights Policy represents our fundamental commitment to respect human rights. At a minimum, we comply with all standards set by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the UN Global Compact and the UN Guiding Principles.

At Viterra, we have implemented extensive health, safety, environment and community programmes, along with a robust global compliance programme. Those programmes, among others, reflect Viterra’s commitment to comply with international best practices. We regularly report on our performance in these areas in our annual Sustainability Report, the most recently published version of which can be found here.

Viterra has also developed several corporate policies and documents in relation to these matters, which are publicly available and can be found on our website at https://www.viterra.com/Who-we-are/Governance. These corporate policies and documents underpin our continued commitment to human rights and include, without limitation, our Code of Conduct, our Human Rights Policy, our Modern Slavery Statement and our Sustainability Report.
