X Corp. did not respond to concerns about the right to privacy of XBlue suscribers in its verification process

On 1 September 2023, the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited X Corp., formerly known as Twitter, to respond to the concerns relating to the right to privacy of XBlue subscribers, which may be impacted in the verification process to be carried out by AU10TIX. According to an article from Doha News, XBlue subscribers are required to provide biometric data, including a selfie and a government-issued ID, to the Israeli company AU10TIX, as part of X social media platform verification process. The report indicates that AU10TIX was founded by former agents of Israel’s Shin Bet general security service and concerns have been raised in relation to X Corp hiring a company with ties to former secret intelligence agents putting user’s privacy rights at risk. X Corp. did not respond.
