A month after the man, 34, started work, his boss began to repeatedly yell insults such as, “You are slow at learning!” “Stupid!” “How long are you going to work here?” The man asked Recruit Staffing Co. to arrange a meeting with the supervisor at the clothing firm, but the meeting was not held, according to the lawsuit filed at Tokyo District Court on Oct. 11. The man was diagnosed as suffering from symptoms of depression in March 2015. In April that year, Recruit Staffing ordered him to take a leave of absence and did not renew his contract at the end of May.
