Thank you for reaching out regarding this matter. Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited (“CTC”) has discussed this matter with Young Clothing Limited, Shwe Lin Pan Industrial Zone, Hlaing Thar Yar Township, Yangon, Myanmar (the “Factory”), and was advised by the Factory that it received formal approval from the local government to close due to low orders on Sept. 15, 2020 and the Factory’s workers were advised of their forthcoming termination and the Factory’s formal closing date of Oct. 16, 2020.

The Factory advised CTC that under the guidance of the local labour bureau and in compliance of all Myanmar laws and regulations, the Factory provided workers with their salaries from September 1 – October 15, plus compensation for outstanding leaves and severance based on years of service.

The Factory confirmed that as of Dec. 31, 2020, 1,171 workers had been paid in full and a remaining 65 workers are in negotiation with the Factory’s Human Resources team for amounts or services (such as helping workers find new jobs in other factories) above and beyond the legally required severance offered.
