Special Report on Philanthropy: Companies go beyond chequebook philanthropy

What's clear is that the world of corporate philanthropy is anything but static. The latest shift is that companies are moving beyond being all things to all not-for-profits, to meaningfully supporting a smaller number of organizations...Jocelyn Daw, president of JS Daw & Associates, calls it the evolution of social entrepreneurship. "Companies are moving away from sprinkling pixie dust everywhere to targeting their corporate philanthropy to where it can have a bigger impact. Being a mile wide and an inch deep doesn't work anymore," said Daw, who has advised a number of Calgary-based companies on how to leverage their impact in the community through philanthropy.
