Egypt: Leoni workers protest low wages amid cost of living crisis; incl. co. response

In January 2023, Middle East Monitor reported thousands of workers striking at Leonie Wiring Systems in protest over low wages, in light of soaring food prices and the cost of living crisis. Demands included that salaries, incentives, bonuses and allowances be raised and health care allowances expanded.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre sought response from LEONI regarding the strikes and demands; their response can be read in full below. The Egyptian authorities have designated the work stoppages an "illegal strike". Work has since resumed.
