Indonesia: Human Rights Commission’s first national inquiry into abuses of indigenous peoples’ land rights
In May 2014, Indonesia’s Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) launched its first national inquiry into alleged human rights violations linked to land conflicts involving indigenous peoples. The Commission is basing its inquiry on around 140 formal complaints, and aims to issue recommendations to new President Joko Widodo by November 2014. Related reports below.
