Japan: Prosecutor once again declines to charge senior TEPCO executives

The Tokyo Prosecutor's office once again stated it would not bring charges against three senior TEPCO executives, rejecting the recommendation of a government review panel stating that the senior executives should have taken adequate measures against a tsunami of the size that hit the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear reactor in March 2011. The prosecutor's office stated that the information available to the executives at the time was not concrete enough to give rise to responsibility on the part of the executives. The government review panel can still decide to force a prosecution of the executives by a court appointed lawyer. The company declined to comment.

In September 2011, the prosecutor declined to bring charges to 42 TEPCO employees in a case brought by victims of the disaster.
